TERRELL .. DONNELL .. SLEDGE was born and raised in San Diego, CA, the youngest of two boys. Sitting in on his older brother's theatre classes at the Community Actor's Theatre in San Diego, Terrell became fascinated with performance and expression. When he was finally allowed to join in, he fell in love with theatre and never looked back. Terrell first performed on stage at the
age of 6.
A graduate of Yale University, Terrell received his B.A. in Theatre Studies. While at Yale, Terrell performed in productions of The Piano Lesson, and The Wiz and directed productions of Betrayal, Sally’s Rape and more, before going to receive his M.F.A. from Brown University/Trinity Rep Program.
Terrell has been fortunate to have opportunities to perform at the Humana Festival, The Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center, Cincinnati Playhouse in The Park, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, faceThe Pioneer Theatre, Naked Angels, BoundlessTheatre, The Commonwealth Shakespeare Co. and others.
Having founded a youth leadership and advocacy program in San Diego, youth empowerment and education have always been one of Terrell's passions and he is proud to continue those efforts working with students, educators, artists and lovely people from around the world. Terrell has worked as both an educator and program advisor for The Annie E. Casey Foundation's: Making Connections Providence, the American Place Theatre and Democracy Prep Charter School and Yale-Dixwell Community Learning Center, Trinity Rep Theatre, UCSB and the Marymount School.
Terrell believes that change is something you must live and embody in such a way that it infects the world.
